Equal opportunities

We are an equal opportunities group open to all children of two to five years of age.

Special needs

We welcome children with special needs to the pre-school, after discussion between parents and staff, and we will do our best to accommodate them in every way.

Fees

Details of fees can be found on the Times and costs page.

Security

The main door to the village hall is locked during the session for the children's safety. We operate a self-registration system, whereby the children put their name cards on a hook at the beginning of a session, and return it to a member of staff at the end. This enables us to know which children are present, and also helps the children with name recognition. All visitors are asked to sign in/out of the Visitors Book. If anyone other than the usual parent/carer is collecting a child, this information should be written in the Visitors Book and mentioned to a member of staff. In an emergency during a pre-school session, please contact a member of staff on their mobiles;

Discipline Policy

At Seagry Pre-school we do not believe in physical discipline, shouting, intimidation or humiliation to deal with unacceptable behaviour.

A disruptive child will be taken to one side and 'calmed' by talking the problem through.

We would like to emphasise that the high ration of adult to child supervision contributes significantly to the smooth running of the playgroup.

Complaints Procedure

We hope your child is happy with us at the pre-school, but should a concern arise please speak to the Supervisor first and the Chairperson second in writing, if the concern is unresolved.

Any approach made to the Staff or Committee will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.

Terms and Conditions

Once regular attendance is agreed with the Supervisor, payment of fees is expected within the first 3 weeks of a half term that the child attends.

Half a term's notice in writing is required if a child will no longer be attending Pre-school or for any reduction in days attended.

In the case of absence, payment will be due as usual, but in the case of prolonged absence (ie over 2 week), payments will be at the discretion of the Committee and half of the fees are needed to retain the place.

A child may not attend the pre-school until their completed registration form has been completed and returned to the Supervisor or Rota and Admissions Secretary.

In case of absence, for whatever reason please notify the Supervisor especially with a warning in case of an infectious disease (eg chickenpox)

If your child has been unwell or sick the day before then please do not send your child to Pre-school for at least 48 hours, especially after vomiting or diarrhoea. Please do not send an infectious child to pre-school in the best interests of everybody.

A parent/carer of every child attending pre-school is expected to take their turn on the Duty Rota to maintain the necessary adult/staff ratio (depending on the number of children on the register at the time).

If unable to do so for any reason, it is necessary for the parent/carer to arrange for a substitute so that the required number of adults are present at pre-school for each session. Please make sure that the Supervisor is aware of any changes to the Duty Rota and alter the copy of the Rota displayed on the notice board. Should any parent be unable to take their turn on the Rota and area unable to find a replacement, they must inform the Supervisor as soon as possible so that cover can be provided and they will be charged £15.00 for the session.

Pregnant mothers have the right to withdraw from the Rota if they so wish, but should inform the Supervisor and the Rota and Admissions Secretary. Nursing mothers are normally put back on the Rota when their baby is 6 months old (providing their older child is still attending pre-school).

Please be prompt in bringing your child, as late arrivals disrupt the session and unsettle children already attending. Also please be prompt when collecting your child as a child can often become distressed if parents are late. Thank you.
